Effects of Cognitive Therapeutic Exercise on SCI with Paresthesia

Abstract
Objective : This study was a column of the case which SCI with paresthesia adopted the method of cognitive therapeutic exerxise(CTE). This study was aimed at evidence that effect of CTE on SCI with paresthesia.

Methods : A 33 year-old female patient that C5, C6 fracture, Spinal Cord Injury C5, C6, C7 Incomplete, ASIA D Scale by traffic accident. In applied for 60 minutes, 2 times a day from 24. June to 24. August. The Study procedure was to be held third (before CTE, after CTE) according to objective evaluation and CTE evaluation.

Results : After CTE, SCIM-¥± resulted from 73 in the initial test to 90, a patient accomplished with dependent ADL. COPM resulted from 3 lists of satisfaction score and achievement score improved. According to a patient`s improvement of living standards(qulity of life). Purdue Pegboard Test resulted from score of all lists belonging to normal standards and hand dexterity was improved. Paresthesia resulted that it was like non-affected side and affected side,
then patient feels paresthesia recovery.

Conclusion : After applying with CTE, SCI with paresthesia has been positive effects of hand dexterity, ADL, paresthesia recovery. For the next, CTE will be effective on a variety of case whose performance ability improved.
